Privacy Policy

The Laguna Beach Parents Club values the privacy and security of our members’ information. The privacy statement is to inform you of what information we gather, how we use that information, and what and how we disclose that information.

  1. For administrative purposes, upon registration, we collect your name, email address, a limited amount of personal information, and your children’s names and ages. This allows group leaders to communicate with members, verify member requirements and better understand the demographics of our members (e.g., average child age range for our members).
  2. No member information is listed on the Club’s public website (e.g., the website accessible to anyone without login).
  3. Your first and last name and email address are required to be shared with the rest of the Club. This data is listed in BigTent, our members-only website. We do this to encourage a community of parents who know one another and can communicate with each other. The members-only website is accessible through private passwords established by the members themselves.
  4. With the exception of your name and email address, your data is used for administrative purposes only, unless the member allows it to be shared with the rest of the Club. Through the members’ profile, the member can opt to share or not share the following pieces of information:
    • Partner 2 (spouse) first and last name
    • Home phone
    • Cell phone
    • Work phone
    • Physical address
    • Picture or icon
    • Children’s names, gender and birthday
  5. Some of the member information that is viewable on the Big Tent members-only website is also distributed via hard copy and electronic roster to other Club members. The roster is distributed in this fashion so members have a way to contact one another when they are away from their computer. Only data that is allowed to be shared is included in the roster. Children’s information is never included in the distributed roster. Roster data includes:
    • First and last name
    • Partner 2 (spouse) first and last name
    • Email address
    • Home phone
    • Cell phone
    • Physical address
  6. LBPC will never sell or share any of your information outside of the Club.
  7. All on-line payments are processed directly through BigTent, our members-only website service provider. BigTent maintains a seamless integration with PayPal’s secure, trusted payment site. LBPC will never have access to any member’s personal credit card information used to pay online dues or event tickets.
  8. In addition to LBPC’s privacy policy, the software vendor that we use for our members-only website has stringent privacy policies in place. The following are key points included in Big Tent’s privacy policy.
    • Protecting your group and your members' privacy is a top priority at BigTent. BigTent will never sell, rent, or give away your information to any third party.
    • Information You Share
      • Your Group Administrator determines how little or how much information must be shared with other members and leaders of your group.
      • You generally control how much personal information you choose to share with other Group Members, within those parameters set by the Group Administrator.
      • Individuals who wish to deactivate their BigTent account may login to their account and go to Home > settings > group info to suspend membership in a group.
    • What BigTent Does With Your Information
      • The information you provide is for sharing with other Group Members privately, unless you opt to share beyond your group.
      • Third party advertisers have no access to your personal profile information or User Content stored on the BigTent Site unless it is in an aggregated format and/or non-personally identifiable.
      • There may be opportunities on the site for you to opt-in and share personal information, but it's your choice and we'll always ask you first.
    • Security:
      • BigTent treats data as an asset that must be protected and uses many tools and techniques to protect your personal information against unauthorized access and disclosure.
