OUR MISSION

ABOUT LBPC

LAGUNA BEACH PARENTS CLUB (LBPC)

The Laguna Beach Parents Club (LBPC) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is run by community volunteers. We were founded in 2005 by parents on a mission to connect families with small children in Laguna Beach through age appropriate events. We strive to help parents and families grow, find support and flourish in their community.

OUR MISSION

The primary objective and purpose of LBPC is to provide opportunities for support, fun and connection for Laguna Beach parents, particularly those with new babies and young children. We want to see parents develop a strong, supportive community, and kids make friends with other kids, so that the entire family will flourish. We are dedicated to providing activities and resources for Laguna Beach parents that create supportive environments for mothers, fathers and their children.

Most members have at least one child under the age of five, but our resources and programs appeal to families with kids of all ages. All Laguna Beach families are welcome!

HISTORY OF THE LBPC

The LBPC was founded in September 2005 by Christa Henry, Kris Thornton and a steering committee of visionaries.*  The founders were former members of the Laguna Beach Moms Club. The Moms Club was a chapter of a national organization designed to provide stay-at-home mothers a sense of community that otherwise would be lacking. But, many of Laguna’s eclectic and unique mix of family units were unable to enjoy the advantages of an organization such as the Moms Club. Club founders wanted to offer a more inclusive group open to all families — anyone who found themselves in a parenting role would be welcome.

The founders created the LBPC from scratch. They worked with an attorney to craft the bylaws, establish our corporation and develop a custom website. A tremendous amount of work went in to getting the LBPC up and running. Since then, a dedicated Board has passed the reigns to another group of volunteer parents.  The Club is run by our family members who dedicate their time so that the LBPC can succeed.

The Club started in November of 2005 with around 50 families. And with each year the has grown.  If you would like more information about LBPC, please contact us.

*A special thank you to all members of the Club’s original Steering Committee: Elizabeth Comisky-Novick, Kim Duensing, Sarah Gardner, Robyn Geary, Christa Henry, Jolee Patterson, Karin Riches and Kris Thornton.
